Synthetic and artificial cellular networks

Understanding the structure, function and evolution of cellular networks requires an evolutionary view of their origins and the use of models able to cope with their complexity. Synthetic biology, along with classical approaches to gene network modeling, provide a unique framework to address fundamental questions concerning the robustness, topological organization and design principles. The potential to build new kinds of gene circuits opens the door for novel biomedical treatments, but also to new forms to think about biological computation and evolution.
